🌉Are Your Past Successes Holding the Key to Overcoming Anxiety?

Hey Reader

We're diving deep into the world of teen anxiety and exploring how to navigate the challenges it presents. As we continue working on the book, Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents, I'm more excited than ever about its relevance to my clients and the strategies it offers.

If you've been listening to these episodes, you might have thought, "I wish my child had these skills." Well, I'm here to tell you that you can teach them those skills! The book can provide valuable guidance, but sometimes you need additional support. I'd love to be the person who helps you equip your child with the tools they need to overcome anxiety and achieve their goals.

Today, let's talk about how worry can sometimes lead to amnesia. Have you ever noticed that when you're anxious about something, it's like your brain suddenly forgets everything you know? It might tell you that you're not capable, that you'll fail, and that there's nothing you can do. Trust me, I've been there too.

The key is to remember that past experiences can provide valuable insights for future challenges. Even if you've never faced a specific situation before, you've likely encountered similar challenges and developed coping mechanisms. By drawing on those experiences, you can build confidence and navigate new situations with greater ease.

Let's explore this concept further. Imagine you're planning a trip to Europe. You might feel anxious about the unfamiliar territory, but you've probably traveled before. You know how to pack, navigate airports, and adapt to new cultures. Those past experiences can help you approach your European adventure with confidence.

The same principle applies to overcoming anxiety. When your brain tells you, "You don't know how to do this," remind yourself of your past successes. You've learned to ride a bike, tie your shoes, and even speak a new language. These accomplishments demonstrate your ability to learn and grow.

By recognizing your past successes and applying them to new situations, you can bridge the gap between anxiety and confidence. Remember, it's okay to feel worried, but don't let it paralyze you. Instead, focus on your strengths and believe in your ability to overcome challenges.

In the next episode, we'll discuss how to put these strategies together into a comprehensive plan for managing teen anxiety. Until then, please reach out if you have any questions or need additional support.

Thanks for listening!

Cynthia

Hi Everyone, I’m thrilled to introduce you to this week’s incredible podcast guest, Kristi Simons! Kristi and I just recently connected, but it felt like the universe had already brought us together. I’d been admiring her work on social media for a while—her podcast, posts, and everything about her energy really caught my eye. Then, in perfect timing, she reached out to me, and I knew instantly that we had to collaborate. What I didn’t know about Kristi until we talked is that she’s a former...
